2026 HERA Virtual Conference: February 25 - 27
“The Essential Humanities in Practice and Perseverance”
In keeping with HERA’s mission of promoting the study of the humanities across a wide range of disciplines and interdisciplinary studies, we invite presentations for the 2026 conference. Submissions are encouraged from educators at all levels (including undergraduate and graduate students) as well as all those with an interest in the arts and humanities. Proposals for papers, panels, or workshops must be submitted through the conference web portals below. Questions may be directed to the conference organizer, Marcia Green (mgreen@sfsu.edu).
CONFERENCE SUBMISSIONS
Submissions are encouraged from educators at all levels (including undergraduate/graduate students) as well as all those with an interest in the arts and humanities. Proposals for papers, panels, or workshops (150-200 words) must be submitted through the conference e-submission links below. Submissions are processed on a first come, first serve basis and decision notifications will be sent out within one to two weeks from submission. After receiving confirmation, participants can pay registration and membership fees via PayPal links or by check. If paying by check please fill out Conference Registration & Membership fee form downloadable below and make check out to HERA in U.S. dollars.

Undergraduate Humanities Diversity Award e-Submissions
Panels involving student award applicants will be recorded for judging purposes.
HERA's Undergraduate Humanities Diversity Award, a prize of $500 will be awarded to the best undergraduate conference paper that addresses race, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality. Creative presentations, readings, and exhibitions are also welcomed.
